Love it or hate it, in my opinion, it’s here to stay!
Seriously what’s not to love? Audiences get to watch people who are so unrelatable in so many ways thrown into raw, real and terrifying scenarios that test their limits. The breakdown of the illusion of celebrity is something I find so fascinating to watch. Because these famous people are still JUST PEOPLE!
My favourite contestant this year who I have well and truly fallen for in a big way is Casey Donovan. Loved by all the camp mates and provides delicious tunes with her guitar and glorious vocals. But it’s how she has opened up so freely about her life and new found happiness that makes my heart melt.
We really haven’t heard much from her over the last ten years but there’s certainly been a lot going on in Casey’s world.
Since 2015, she suffered with crippling anxiety on which she says:
“I think I just buried so many things in my life that I think in the last few years I couldn’t keep pushing it down, it actually had to come out. It is good to talk about it and just know that you are going to be okay, which is the hardest thing to say to yourself when you are going through something like that.”
Camp mates were also shocked when she revealed being cat-fished for 6 years after winning Australian Idol. In a devastating confession, Casey tells her camp mates held onto the relationship for so long because she couldn’t believe someone could love her.
Casey has openly discussed her self-perceived failed career.
But with all these revelations that make you want to wrap Casey up and give her all the love in the world, she is one of the most positive, loved, vibrant and charismatic camp mates this year.
Last night in a segment the camp mates like to call Pricey’s Jungle Radio, Casey opened up on how she’s feeling now.
“It has taken a long time for me to be (happy). I’ve found confidence within myself. I’ve learnt how to smile…to talk. How to take it easy. I’ve learnt how to just try and enjoy life for what it is. I feel like I am at the place in my life now, almost 29 and 13 years in this business I’ve definitely got to see a lot and experience a lot and there is no place I’d rather be.”
We all hope you keep smiling Casey, happiness looks so damn good on you!
